The project for Villa Colonnese and for the single-family villas built in its large park on the hills around Vicenza represents the first Italian project by the renowned Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.
The project restores to the ancient eighteenth-century villa its importance and centrality in the planimetric composition of the complex, enhancing its main facade with a wide outdoor area. Around the main historic volume of Villa Colonnese, the pure and rational volumes designed by Siza are arranged, which with their power and clarity establish an unprecedented dialogue with the historic morphologies.
